PREPS
5 & 6 Year Olds
In addition to fine-tuning skills developed in the previous Playball programs, your child will practice more demanding and specialized sports skills and sports sequences, with an emphasis on the quality of the execution of the skills.
This is a drop-off class and the duration of the class is 45 minutes.
The program emphasis:
Refinement
The refinement of the manipulation component of popular sports.
Positioning
The development of skills relating to direction, distance, and space.
Execution
The development of the correct execution of the skill.
Teamwork
The development of teamwork and partner work.
Decision-Making
Development of decision-making in a game situation.
Sport Games
Playing small-sided sports games in a competitive environment.
The Preps are starting to find competence in all the individual sport skills. Amongst other skills, they find it increasingly easy to confidently bounce a ball up to a hoop and shoot a basket; or dribble a hockey ball and pass it to a teammate.
There are a number of exercises that include partner work to provide the children with an introduction to teamwork. They are learning to work together as a unit to achieve a common goal while taking on leadership roles.
This program deals with the refinement of skills. There is a greater emphasis on the quality of each movement. The program includes a wide range of specialized sports skills, formalized sports drills, and a large amount of partner work, which lays the foundation for competent sport participation and team selection.
